QITEP in Science - 34th SEAMEO HOM

SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Science who was represented by Prof. Ismunandar and Mr. Maman Wijaya attended 34th SEAMEO High Official Meeting on 17-19 January 2012 at Grand Millennium Sukhumvit Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. The Meeting was attended by 136 Delegates from 21 countries, made up of Delegates from High Officials from 9 SEAMEO Member Countries, 19 SEAMEO Units, Associate Members (Australia, Germany, Spain), Affiliate Members (International Council for Open and Distance Education: ICDE, British Council), Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Japan, ASEAN Secretariat, Asian Development Bank, Korean Educational Development Institute (KEDI), UNESCO Bangkok, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO), and SEAMEO Secretariat.
The Meeting discussed and agreed the 32 working papers. There were many agreements and decisions made. Especially QITEP in Science agreed with Proposal on GIZ-SEAMEO INNOTECH Regional for School Programme in Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR and the Philippines, proposed by SEAMEO INNOTECH. Fitting the School Programme, a joint program of GIZ (German Development Cooperation) and SEAMEO INNOTECH is a programme to improve the health and education outcomes of students in the intervention schools which are in the participating countries. QITEP in science extended its greatest intention to Dr. Ramon Bacani, Centre Director of SEAMEO INNOTECH, that QITEP in Science intends to be Liaison Officers of the project, and it was positively responded. It came to be an agreement between SEAMEO INNOTECH and QITEP in Science in the nearest future.
In addition, QITEP asked RECSAM in order that QITEP were able to join in Training of Trainers in the Use of the Teachers’ Guidebook: Integrating Climate Change Issues in Southeast Asian Schools, proposed by RECSAM.
