| Organizational Development
SEAMEO centre for QITEP in Science is expected to be able to serve as the empowered arm of SEAMEO as a chartered international organization whose purpose is to promote cooperation in education, science and culture in the Southeast Asian region. Because SEAMEO centre for QITEP in Science is located in the compound of CDESTEP owned by the Ministry of National Education, there the daily operation is supervised by the Ministry of National Education of Indonesia.
Organizational Structure
The organization of the Centre shall be in line with the SEAMEO organization. SEAMEO centre for QITEP in Science is headed by a Director who is assisted by two Deputy Directors, one a non-Indonesian, but a national of any of the other SEAMEO member countries, who takes charge of the Centre's programs, and the other a Indonesian by citizenship, who takes charge of administration. Under the two Deputy Directors there are a number of people who are responsible for certain tasks. The complete staff.
Governing Board
The SEAMEO centre for QITEP in Science Governing Board (GB) is the centre's highest policy-making body. The GB is composed of representatives from each SEAMEO member country who are nominated by their respective Ministers/Secretaries of Education and appointed by the SEAMEO Council. The GB is responsible for operational policies, strategic planning, annual evaluation, and review of the Centre's programs and budget. The SEAMEO Secretariat (SEAMES) Director and Director of the Centre serve as ex-officio members of the Board.
Advisory Committee
SEAMEO centre for QITEP in Science also has an Advisory Committee, which is composed of prominent persons (men and women) representing various sectors of the host country and from development-oriented institutions. The Committee's function is to provide advice to the Centre Management regarding strategic areas it may go into, strategic approaches it may employ to carry out its mandates, or resource-mobilization schemes it may pursue to augment its incomes.
Host Government and Institution
The Centre, SEAMEO Centre for QITEP in Science host by the Government of Indonesia (GOI). Considering the location of the Centre, temporarily, will be in the compound for the Centre for Development and Empowerment of Science Teachers and Educational Personnel, in Bandung, Indonesia. The GOI will provide building, equipment, cars, and the facilities necessary for the functioning of the Centre.
Organization
Analysis of the responses to the questionnaire show that the organization of the Centre must be in line with the SEAMEO organization. SEAMEO Centre on QITEP in Science will work closely with the host institution, i.e., CDESTEP (Centre for Development and Empowerment of Science Teacher and Education Personnel) supervised by the Ministry of National Education.
Headquarter
The Centre’s headquarter is located in the compound of CDESTEP (Centre for Development and Empowerment of Science Teachers and Educational Personnel) in Bandung, Indonesia. The Centre is privileged to share the premises as well as the facilities of P4TK-IPA/Science. |
