Course On
Earth and Space Science Education for Sustainable Development
Rationale
Human life is very dependent on nature, as it accomodates human in every aspect. When humans destroy nature, then human beings cannot sustain life. As the God creature, human being inhabits earth and all life interaction within it. The interaction itself needs understanding and sufficient knowledge for the earth sustainability, which can be obtained through the introduction of astronomy, and geology. Human beings continue to do as they please, treating the Earth as if it had an endless capacity to recover from mankind's mistreatment (the asahi glass foundation, 2007).
Teachers as agents of change through the transformation process, have a great chance in guiding their students to have awareness and attitude to continually adapt and maintain the environment, so that they can preserve the human being sustainability in the future by comprehending earth and space science.
Goals
This training programme aims to improve the comprension and skill in using data source and equipments related to earth and space science, which will be used by teachers to improve the quality of learning process of earth and space in class.
Learning Objectives
1. Participants should be able to conduct proper observation and form correct concepts and attitudes towards the proper treatment of the environment; and
2. Participants are able to apply earth and space knowledge in class activity, in order to realize an attractive earth and space lesson for students.
3. Participant should be able to motivate their student's understanding that their activity will be consequence for the survival all form of live.
Course Contents
